Welcome to My Lifeposted by Stefania Fernandez at 07:30am on 09/09/2009As you may know, on August 23rd, 2009, I was crowned Miss Universe 2009 by my fellow Venezuelan Dayana Mendoza from Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas. It has been one of the most exciting times in my life, I feel like I have finally reached my dream and all my effort, hard work and sacrifice were finally rewarded.This sure has been a tough year for me, there's been nothing but work since I won the Miss Venezuela pageant a year ago to prepare myself for Miss Universe but it sure paid off.These first few weeks as the new Miss Universe have been challenging as I'm getting used to my new home and facing new challenges. I'm in a different country and a big city and I'm trying to get used to it as fast as I can.Over the past few weeks I have had many interviews with a lot of different papers, magazines, TV networks and radio stations from all over the world. I had my first official photo shoot with Fadil Berisha and I went to a tennis match at the US OPEN Grand Slam, and in between all that I am struggling to learn English, but trying really hard. I already am picking it up though, I hope you can tell... Definitely very happy and excited to start this year and achieve new goals and before I say goodbye I would like to thank again the Miss Universe Organization and Donald Trump for this opportunity and the possibility to work with such noble causes as the prevention of HIV/AIDS, and the opportunity to meet and help young women around the world..Until next time…
